To awaken your creativity in a fun and playful way, join me for my mosaic workshops where you will learn which tool, materials and techniques to use while creating your own unique artwork.

You will create permanent projects for indoor/outdoor applications using pieces of ceramic, glass, pebbles, mirrors, china, beads and pottery.  Participants can bring their own materials if they hold a special significance, but a wide range of mosaic materials and all use of tools will be included in the price of the workshop.  The projects will involve working on either two- or three-dimensional surfaces. You can start by creating your own design or follow patterns that are available at the studio.

You will find the transformation from small pieces into a complete mosaic to be a deeply satisfying process. Participants enjoy the results of their pursuit and get inspired by working alongside of others who are drawn to this beautiful ancient art form.

During our recent visit to Salt Spring we decided to try one of the many workshops offered on the Island. We ended up at Luba's studio and had a wonderful time over 2 evenings creating beautiful mosaic tiles. Luba was incredibly generous in accommodating our timing and provided us with everything we needed and all the skilled guidance. We thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and meeting other folks from the Island at the studio. Thank you Luba! You truly helped make our visit such a memorable time.read more

My sisters and I thoroughly enjoyed Luba’s two-day mosaic class. The atmosphere in Luba's studio was relaxed and the hours melted away. Luba, a knowledgeable and experienced mosaic artist, guided us through the steps of making a mosaic mirror. We loved the experience of creating a design and choosing the colours and patterns. Spending two days in Luba’s studio was the highlight of our sisters’ retreat. Pat Campbellread more

I recently took the mosiac workshop with Luba Nikitina while on a trip to Salt Spring Island. Luba was a very warm and inviting instructor. This was everyone's first attempt at doing mosiac work and each project turned out very well. Some of us were a little slower and Luba kindly let us stay a little later and start early so that all projects were completed. I found the course very enjoyable. BH Winnipeg, MBread more

  • “Mirror, Mirror, On the Wall” ~ 5:30 pm – 9 pm
    5:30 pm-9:00 pm
    10/07/2019

“Mirror, Mirror, On the Wall” ~ 5:30 pm – 9 pm

I once had the pleasure of visiting Guell Park in Barcelona where I fell in love with Antonio Gaudi’s work. His fun-filled style of using broken crockery in his mosaic creations is known as Picassiette, derived from the French term pique-assiette which literally translates into “thief of plates”.

During this workshop participants will each create a mirror (10″ x 10″) in the Picassiette style similar to the picture above. If you have some broken plates or ceramics that have a special significance to you, please bring them with you to incorporate them into your design.

Tools will be provided for your use and all materials are included in the price of the workshop.

    No previous experience is necessary.
